our warranty

Norc Windows & Doors Inc. (“NWD”) warrants that the Product identified below will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a minimum of ten (10) years from the date of purchase, unless a different period is expressly stated herein. All warranties are subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions, limitations and disclaimers contained in this document.

Unless otherwise stated, NWD’s warranties are a flow-through of the applicable supplier warranty, and NWD will not provide coverage beyond that provided by the supplier.

This Warranty applies to the Original Consumer (the original purchaser of the Product and original owner of the building in which it is installed) when purchased from NWD or an authorized NWD dealer, distributor, contractor or builder.

The Warranty extends to the original purchaser for thirty-five (35) years, provided they continue to own and reside in the home. It is fully transferable to subsequent owners for ten (10) years from the date of installation, with subsequent owners receiving the remaining portion of the original warranty period.

Coverage terminates if the home remains unoccupied for more than thirty (30) consecutive days.

ALL WARRANTIES ARE SUBJECT TO THE CONDITIONS, EXCLUSIONS, DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATIONS SET OUT IN THIS DOCUMENT.

Vinyl Components : 35-Year Warranty

NWD warrants for 35 years from installation that vinyl components of NWD-manufactured windows will not rot, rust, crack, warp, pit, corrode, peel, blister, or experience non-uniform fading or discoloration. Coverage excludes damage from improper installation or maintenance, accidents, fire, flood, abuse, chemicals, heat, excessive temperatures, normal weathering, oxidation, extreme weather, or other causes beyond NWD’s control. This Warranty does not apply to extrusions that are painted, coated, capped, or installed in products on a non-vertical plane.

Insulating Glass Unit: 15-Year Warranty

NWD warrants against seal failure causing moisture, film, or dust between glass for 15 years from purchase, subject to catalogue size limits:

  • Years 0–5: Replacement glass/sash + labour at no cost
  • Years 5–10: Replacement glass at no cost; labour/shipping excluded
  • Years 10–15: Replacement glass at 50% of selling cost; labour/shipping excluded

Units not manufactured and installed by NWD or an authorized representative are covered only by the manufacturer’s seal-failure warranty. Coverage is void for cracked/broken glass or aftermarket film. Stress cracks: 1-year warranty. Specialty glass colours/patterns are not guaranteed to match.

NWD warrants hardware, including locks, fasteners, rollers, and balances, against peeling, flaking, rusting, blistering, and corrosion for the life of the product. Defective parts will be replaced at no charge.

Normal wear and tear, tarnishing, corrosion, and finish discoloration are not covered. Balances and locking mechanisms should be lubricated annually with silicone spray, and sliding tracks kept free of dirt and debris. Failure to properly maintain hardware may affect warranty coverage.

Screen Mechanisms: 2-Year Warranty

NWD warrants screen mechanisms against material and manufacturing defects for 2 years from the date of receipt, where the defect makes the screen unusable for its intended purpose.

This Warranty excludes torn mesh, scratched or bent frames, and damage or injury resulting from failure or unintended use. Handle, install, and remove screens with care. Screens are not designed to prevent children from falling through windows.

Warranty Limitations
NWD may modify or discontinue product designs or manufacturing methods. If a replacement is approved but the original part is unavailable, NWD may provide a replacement of equal or superior quality.

Replacement products are covered only for the remaining warranty period of the original product.

This Warranty covers only specified manufacturing and material defects. It does not cover damage caused by improper installation, accidents, fire, flood, vandalism, misuse, chemical exposure, mildew, building settlement or structural failure, excessive heat, or other causes beyond NWD’s control.

  • PVC & Aluminum Extrusions: 20 years against peeling, buckling, blistering, cracking, and major uneven discoloration. Desert Sand PVC: 20 years against peeling, buckling, blistering, and cracking.
  • Sealed Glass Units: 10 years against seal failure causing film or dust between panes. Also covers qualifying spontaneous glass breakage, raise/lower blinds and sealed-unit kick-panel mechanisms. Applies to residential, commercial, institutional, multi-residential, and subsequent owners as specified in the original warranty.
  • Paint Finish: 10 years against paint adhesion failure, cracking, and peeling; 5 years against excessive or uneven loss of luster.
  • Hardware: 5 years for manufacturing defects, including rollers, mortise handles, weather-stripping, and retractable screen mechanisms. 1 year for screen hardware and other parts. Brushed Nickel Truth hardware: 10 years. Screen mesh is not covered.
  • Manufacturing, Labour & Transportation: 1 year from delivery.
  • All coverage is subject to the exclusions and conditions outlined in the full warranty.

This Warranty does not cover:

  • Improper installation, adjustment, modification, repair, or maintenance, including installations that are not square, level, vertical, or otherwise compliant with NWD instructions.
  • Damage caused by abuse, negligence, accidents, vandalism, natural disasters, or inadequate maintenance.
  • Water infiltration not caused by a product defect.
  • Damage or defects caused by excessive humidity, condensation, poor heat or ventilation control.
  • Damage caused by excessive heat, chemicals, corrosive materials, or improper cleaners/solvents.
  • Flexible paint surfaces, including co-ex and rubberized strips.
  • Air or water infiltration in products not glazed or assembled by NWD.
  • Abusive use of raise/lower blinds or other components.
  • Any product repaired or modified by anyone other than NWD or the original manufacturer.

This document constitutes the entire Warranty agreement; no other representations, descriptions, samples, or promises create additional warranties.

Condensation caused by normal indoor humidity and temperature differences is not a defect and is not covered. For information, contact info@norcwindows.com.

Any aftermarket films, coatings, tints, or similar products not supplied by NWD will void this Warranty.

This Warranty applies only to NWD-manufactured products and is void if non-NWD accessories cause defects or damage to NWD products.

Certain jurisdictions may limit the exclusion of implied, incidental, or consequential warranties or damages; such limitations may not apply in all cases.

Warranty Claims

To make a warranty claim, the owner must notify NWD and the builder/installer in writing within 10 days of the defect appearing. The notice must include:

  • Owner’s name and address
  • Installation date
  • Brief description of the defect
  • NWD invoice/quote number

Where applicable, the owner is responsible for labour and other costs specified under the Warranty. Repair or replacement will not begin until any required owner payment is received.

NWD reserves the right to change product specifications or designs without notice.

Condensation: Causes & Tips

Condensation can occur when warm, moist indoor air meets a colder window or door surface. Understanding the causes and maintaining the right indoor humidity can help reduce condensation and protect your home.

Condensation forms when warm, moist air comes into contact with a cooler surface, causing moisture to collect as water droplets. It is generally a sign of excess indoor humidity rather than a defect in the window or door.

The amount of moisture in your home affects when condensation occurs. When indoor humidity is high and window surfaces are cooler, condensation is more likely to form. Maintaining balanced humidity levels can help minimize moisture buildup.

• Keep indoor humidity at appropriate levels, especially during colder months.
• Use exhaust fans when cooking, showering, or bathing.
• Ensure air circulates freely around windows and doors.
• Avoid blocking vents or covering heating registers near windows.
• Wipe away excessive moisture when it appears.

Recommended indoor humidity varies with outdoor temperatures. During cold Canadian winters, lower indoor humidity can help prevent condensation. Adjust your humidifier as outdoor temperatures change and monitor your home’s humidity level.

Condensation or fogging between panes of glass is different from condensation on the interior surface. It can indicate that the sealed glass unit has lost its insulating seal. If you notice persistent moisture between the panes, contact NORC Windows & Doors for assistance.
